Should anyone need an example of how to gut out a victory, the tape or DVD of the Milwaukee Brewers' game against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night would be a shining example.The Brewers overcame a 4-0 deficit, an injury to a key player and a bullpen running out of pitchers, yet prevailed.Prince Fielder's second solo homer of the game, a one-out shot in the top of the 12th inning, lifted the Brewers to a 5-4 victory at Wrigley Field in a game that seemed certain to go the Cubs' way on at least a few occasions early on.
Carlos Villanueva pitched half of the bullpen's eight shutout innings, and Derrick Turnbow closed the victory with a strong bottom of the 12th, seemingly impervious to the pressure after losing the closer's job the second half of last season.
