Packers first pick #36 overall Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State
Jordy Nelson from Kansas State is a productive WR who catches everything that's thrown to him. The 6-2 217 WR had 122 receptions in '07, which was the 2nd best in all of college football. He also bring Special Teams value to the Packers, returning 3 TD's on punt returns over his career. He runs a 4.5 40, which is not blazing, but adequate. He also was a 1st team All-American in 2007.
Nelson was considered a "sleeper" pick by many "experts". It was surprising the Packers added a WR with their first selction. It also was surprising to be Nelson with some marquee names like: James Hardy (Indiana), Desean Jackson (Cal), Malcom Kelly (Oklahoma), & Mario Manningham (Michigan) all avialble when the Packers picked.
The selection of Nelson might signal the end of one WR's career in Green Bay. Could it be Koren Robinson, Ruvell Martin?? My guess would be K-Rob, who's "real" value is as a returner. The Packers found a few bodies last year who can do the job: Will Blackmon, Tamron Williams, and now Jordy Nelson.
