Newly hired GM John Hammond wasted no time in hiring a new head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks. Moving quickly after firing Larry Krystkowiak, the Bucks announced the hiring late yesterday.
Skiles played 10 seasons with five teams in the NBA and has been a head coach previously with the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns. Next season will be his ninth as a head coach in the league and he has a career coaching record of a 281-251. His teams have made the playoffs five times.
The Bucks were looking for someone with head coaching experience, someone that has won, has had playoff experience as a head coach, and whose teams compete and play hard every single night. Skiles was their man, signing him to a 4-year, $18 million dollar contract.
